Eric Migicovsky, founder of former smartwatch manufacturer, Pebble, announced the launch of a new universal chat app on January 20th via Twitter. This app, called Beeper, will allow users to operate 15 separate messaging services via a singular interface.
With Beeper, people will no longer have to juggle different chat apps to stay in touch.
While this by itself is no mean feat, Eric’s announcement that people will be able to use iMessage on Android makes it even more interesting.
Apple is known for keeping its proprietary software in-house, including iMessage. However, Beeper has a workaround for this to allow people on Linux, Windows, and Android platforms use the service.
This announcement comes in the wake of WhatsApp’s privacy policy changes which has sent many people looking for alternative private messaging applications.
For Beeper, you will have to wait a little longer as there is no launch date yet, but you can signup for an invite later.
Update: Beeper is live for both iOS and Android.
