Social media giant, Facebook, has launched a Nextdoor-like tool called Neighborhoods in Canada and four US cities.
The company first rolled out the feature in October last year where it tested it among select Calgary residents of Canada. Now, it is rolling out the same across Canada and USA cities of Charlotte, NC; San Diego, California; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Newark, NJ.
With this tool Facebook users who live in the same neighborhood will be able to connect with each other. They will be able to discuss local events, recommend fun locations and activities, and much more. What’s more? Users can create subgroups for those with similar interests, for example birdwatching.
Finally, to ensure postings are polite and in-line with the rules, Facebook will allow certain users take on moderation roles. For now this feature is open to users of 18 years or above.
