Facebook Messenger announced a slew of new features on August 25 to commemorate its 10th anniversary.
The new set of features also include poll games that also double as a way for groups to make collective decisions. For example, group members can use it to decide on an activity. They can also use it to play “Most likely to” games for unearthing the consensus on who is most likely to do something.
The company is also introducing a means to send cash gifts on birthdays. With this feature, users can send money to a friend via Facebook Pay. Once the friend confirms their Facebook Pay details, the money will be instantly deposited into their bank account.
The features also include birthday-themed tools like a sticker pack, a confetti message effect, and a birthday song Soundmoji. Finally, there is a feature for users to share contacts directly with others and an upcoming Word Effect feature.
The company is rolling out these new features to celebrate Messenger’s ability to connect family members and friends.
