Social media giant, Facebook, is currently beta-testing Hotline, a Clubhouse-inspired platform.
The New Product Experiment (NPE) arm of the company is responsible for this product. At the moment, it is only available via a website, although work is ongoing to create mobile apps.
With this feature, Facebook hopes to understand how live, interactive Q&As can contribute to the transfer of knowledge from experts to people.
While Hotline takes inspiration from Clubhouse, there are differences. For instance, it supports the use of videos. It also has a built-in Q&A component that allows audience members to ask questions via text, alongside audio. Fellow members can then up vote the questions they want the host to answer.
Also, unlike Clubhouse, it allows hosts to record conversations in either audio or video format.
