Twitter announced on September 7 that it is trialling a new feature for users to remove unwanted followers without blocking them.
Originally, users could stop others from following them and viewing their tweets by blocking. This feature provides a less harsh alternative where your tweets will no longer appear automatically on “soft blocked” people’s timelines.
The company is working on this feature to bolster privacy and reduce abuse on its platform.
Apart from this, it is testing a new UI design that will allow media to span the width of the timeline.
It is also testing Communities: a feature for people with similar interests to connect and engage each other. For now, people can only join via invitations. However, Twitter says it is working on ways for people to discover and join Communities that interest them.
iOS users can access the feature via their navigation bar, while web users will find it on their sidebar. For now, Android users can only read Community posts. However, the company promises there are more functionalities on the way.
