Brave – a privacy-oriented browser – launched a public beta version of its search engine, Brave Search, on June 22.
With this tool, internet users can enjoy increased privacy when they do web searches. The reason for this is that it does not track users’ activities while they surf. The search engine is available on Brave’s desktop and mobile browsers. You can also use it on other browsers by visiting search.brave.com.
The company seeks to rival other search engines like Google and DuckDuckGo. And it hopes to do this by providing a more competitive and private alternative.
Brave’s uniqueness stems from the fact that it relies on an independently built search index. Consequently, its search results are independent of larger indexes like Microsoft’s Bing and Google Search. However, the company admitted that where it doesn’t have relevant – or any – results– it will defer to these indexes.
If you care for your privacy while you browse the web, Brave Search is a good alternative you should try.
